Ex-Premier League player Giles Barnes joins Hyderabad FC

Giles Barnes has played for many clubs in the Premier League and Major League Soccer.

Indian Super League new entrants Hyderabad FC have signed Jamaican International Giles Barnes, according to reports. The 31-year-old player has experience of playing in the Premier League and Major League Soccer under his belt. The forward has played for clubs like West Bromwich Albion and Derby County in the English Premier League.

Giles Barnes will be Hyderabad FC’s seventh foreign signing, adding to an already star-studded roster, which includes another ex-Premier League player Matthew Kilgallon. Many players from the FC Pune City squad have also been retained.

Barnes started his professional football career with Derby County and spent five years playing there. He then joined West Bromwich Albion in the EFL. After spending a year with Doncaster Rovers, Barnes moves to Houston Dynamo in the Major League Soccer in 2012. During his stay in the United States of America, Barnes has played for three different clubs.

Representing the city of Hyderabad, once a hotbed of Indian football, Hyderabad FC will be hopeful of making a strong debut. Hyderabad FC is coached by former FC Pune City coach Phil Brown and young goalkeeper Kamaljit Singh has reportedly been named the captain.
