Official: FC Pune City appoint Philip Brown as new coach

FC Pune City are currently seventh in the ISL point table with eleven points from 12 matches.

FC Pune City have officially announced the signing of Philip Brown as their new head coach. The 59-year-gaffer previously coached Swindon Town in the League 2, the fourth tier of English Football pyramid. He has also coached the likes of Hull City and Bolton Wanderers.

The Pune-based ISL outfit sacked Miguel Angel Portugal after the team struggled at the beginning of the campaign. FC Pune City then appointed Pradyum Reddy as the interim coach of the club. The club won their last 2 matches in the ISL and improved their rankings. They now sit seventh with eleven points.

Philip Brown is a former footballer who played as a right-back. He has played for the likes of Hartlepool United, Bolton Wanderers, Halifax United and Blackpool.

He started his coaching career as the caretaker coach of Bolton Wanderers. He went onto coach Derby County and Hull City, where he helped them get a promotion to the Premier League.  He has also coached Preston North End, Southend United before coaching Swindon Town.

FC Pune City will be looking to turn around their fortunes with this signing. However, they only have little chances of making it into the playoff.
