Probable Lineup: How India could lineup against Thailand?

India national team will face Thailand in their first AFC Asian Cup group stage match on January 6.

It was on 18th January 2011 when India last played in the AFC Asian Cup. Many years have passed since that day when the Blue Tigers were drubbed by South Korea, 4-1. And on tomorrow, 06-01-2019, India will face Thailand in their first group stage match of the same competition, after missing out on the qualification of its 2015th edition.

In a group that has Bahrain, UAE and Thailand, India come up with the underdog tags and it will be tough for the Blue Tigers to pass the group stage hurdle. Tomorrow’s game represents India with a chance to kickstart the competition on a positive note. The confidence in the camp is high. And expectations are that the team can take that confidence on to the ground and deliver.

Ahead of the big match, Soccer Mirror looks how India could lineup against The War Elephants.

Head coach, Stephen Constantine will mostly start the team using a 4-4-2 formation.

Goalkeeper – Gurpreet Singh Sandhu

The Bengaluru FC shot-stopper is India’s No.1 goalkeeper and he will likely start between the sticks for the Blue Tigers. Sandhu’s performance against China in China speaks volumes of his ability. The former Stabaek FC goalkeeper pulled off saves to keep the scoreline 0-0 until the final whistle.
