We hope to do well in Super Cup and AFC Cup – Chennaiyin FC’s John Gregory

Chennaiyin FC are currently languishing at the bottom in the ISL point table

This season has not gone well for Chennaiyin FC. They Chennai-based ISL outfit has only garnered 5 points from 12 games this season. Even if they win their remaining 6 matches, they won’t qualify for the playoffs (fourth placed Northeast United FC already have 20 points).

Chennaiyin FC coach John Gregory, who led them to success last season, admitted that the season has been tough. He said, “Unfortunately, this season has not started as well. Last three months have been hell. It’s been a really tough time.”

Gregory also said that fans have supported them at these tough times. He said, “But fans stood with us. You continue to support us, get back behind players, which is for me always important. It is really important and you have done that. We certainly owe you big time.”

Gregory asserted that they hope to do well in Super Cup and AFC Cup. The Englishman said, “We hope to do well in both and obviously want to challenge to win those we are involved in; Super Cup and the AFC Cup.”

With their hopes of a spot in the ISL playoff over, Chennaiyin FC will now be looking to perform well in Super Cup. Chennaiyin FC are also in the AFC Cup and will be looking forward to delivering strong outings.
